VOLUNTEER: PEER COUNSELOR
Trial by Peers needs trained student volunteers (Peer Counselors) to prosecute and defend juvenile offenders in court. As these are actual court cases, peer counselors must attend a summer training course taught by local judges and attorneys.
The summer course, lasting from June to early August trains peer counselors in the law, public speaking, and advocating for their client. This culminates in a mock trial where they put what they've learned to use, and finally a mini-bar exam. Upon completion and passage of the exam, they attend a graduation ceremony and get sworn in to be peer counselors.
If you are interested in joining the program and taking the classes over the summer, or volunteering to be a jury member/clerk, please click on the link below to fill-out the volunteer form.
